Hi Friends. Wowsers, I can’t believe it’s been a whole MONTH since I last posted. I really can’t believe how fast time has gone – I’ve been doing good but really busy squeezing in the last of the nice weather. Here’s an update of what I’ve been up to: friends of ours invited us to stay at an oceanfront cottage in Prince Edward Island; how could we resist? I love PEI. I went there for the first time last year and I’ve really been really looking forward to going back. It was so nice to have my morning coffee, watching the sunrise, over the
ocean. Years ago I used to live in a small beach cabin back home in Courtenay, so
this trip truly reminded me of how nice it is to wake up to the smell of
the fresh sea and the peacefullness of the ocean:

I really needed this time to catch my breath and just RELAX. And that I did. We toured the island, stopped at Farmer’s Markets, did a little shopping and then enjoyed BBQing back at our cottage and visiting together as the sun set. Lots of laughs and VERY good time indeed. The highlight for me was simply walking on the beach, feeling the sand under my feet, and looking for shells. The ocean was incredibly warm too, I couldn’t believe it – especially for October!
Back home in Nova Scotia, I’ve been picking apples and the last of my veg from the garden and putting them up for winter. I made applesauce and the most incredible tomato chutney and I STILL have three huge tubs of apples to prepare for the freezer and make some jam.

VERY satisifying to hear the jars ‘pop’ as they seal. It’s been a few
years since I last canned, with all the moving and changes in my life,
so it was quite nice to get back at it, now that everything has settled. I
also made blackcurrant liquer for the first time – it turned out absolutely delicious! Now I’m planning on
making some more, this time with apples, as Christmas gifts for friends and
family. Speaking of Christmas, I’ve also been busy knitting and
crocheting gifts whenever I can squeeze in the time to do it. A friend
mentioned to me this week that there are only 10 Monday’s until
Christmas – can you believe that???
