Snowflake Christmas Jar Candle

November 7, 2018 4 Comments

This past Saturday I hosted a holiday crafting dinner at my home for members of my “Serene Stampers” team. We had so much fun! We made two cute gift items and today I’m sharing the first one we made, which is an easy Christmas Jar Candle. Taking inspiration from pinterest, we covered our jars with a layer of glue and then rolled them in Epsom salts. Once dry we simply decorated the rim with ribbon, foliage cut with the Sprig Punch and Leaf Punch, and finished by hot gluing a Snowflake Trinket in the centre. All our jars turned out beautifully and with a lit candle inside they really look fabulous. I know some may ask about the ceramic Santa in the photo. It’s one that I painted years and years ago. My parents had a very successful ceramic shop in the 1980’s, so I grew up with my Dad pouring the molds and firing the pieces and my mom taught the painting classes. They also held seminars in the summer, with instructors from the US demonstrating special techniques (ie. Dresden Lace) and there would be RV’s parked on our property all weekend long. Mom was also a great hostess, and there would always be a massive spread of food for the guests attending the seminar. I have many good memories of those times! On Friday I’ll share the second Christmas project we made this past weekend (it’s my favourite), with a new video. I love creating for the holidays and Stampin’ Up! products sure make it fun and easy!

If you need a quick gift, these come together really fast and they’d be perfect to tuck in a basket with some homemade cookies and cocoa!

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…

I love your candle! So pretty! I also remember the Santa. I was an avid Ceramic person for many years. Loved it! Could you tell me what kind of glue you used to glue the Epson Salts on with? Thanks so much!

Hi Cherie! Thanks for your comments! I used our Multipurpose Liquid Glue and a foam brush to cover the jar. Then I put Epsom salt on a paper plate to roll the jar in, pressing down. It was easy to fold the plate in half and pour the remaining salt back into it's container. Have fun with this!
