Friends! I hope you’ve been enjoying summer as much as I’ve been. One
of my favourite things about this time of year is having a vegetable
garden and so far all my veg are lookin’ pretty awesome! I’ve got beans,
radishes, beets, corn, carrots, turnips, celery, tomatoes, garlic,
onions, swiss chard, zucchini, cucumbers, squash and herbs. In
amongst yesterday’s rain showers, I planted some jalapeno and Thai
peppers (by seed). I’m not sure if they’ll grow, especially with
planting them so late, but I had run out of room in my garden and
needed to make a new spot for them. I also transplanted black currant bushes from my previous home, when I moved to Heatherton three years ago, and every branch is (finally) LOADED with berries! Some are going to be turned into homemade Creme
de Cassis (which is absolutely divine), and for the remainder, I’ll make jam. I love canning & can’t wait to start on it!

satisfying in watching plants grow from the little seeds you planted,
and then ultimately picking and eating the delicious end result. I’m
hoping my tomatoes and cucumbers do really real this summer so that I
can make lots of pickles and salsa this Fall.

Aside from playing in my
vegetable (and flower) gardens, I’ve got some camping on the agenda
and then company coming next month. With the days going so fast this
summer, I’ve been trying really hard to take time to ENJOY every
minute. Sometimes that means just taking time to PLAY. Receiving my
Paper Pumpkin kit this week was a great reminder for me to take a
breather and have some creativity in my day.

the pre-cut cards in the kit, I used some of the other supplies for today’s cards, including the “On My Mind” stamp set (love it!),
embellishments and die cuts. I also created a
fun background for my cards using the “Come Sail Away”
Designer Series Paper and Rectangle Stitched Dies. This technique
creates BEAUTIFUL backgrounds for cards, perfect for all seasons and
occasions just by switching up the colours and patterns. Here’s a
short video tutorial on how I made these pretty cards:

Did you use the Pretty Peacock ink pad that comes with the Paper Pumpkin kit for July? It's hard to tell from the video, but in the photos here, it does look to be that color. Beautiful. Love your videos and card demos.
Hi Vonn. Yes I used Pretty Peacock ink pad. Thank you for your kind comments – I really appreciate it. Happy Stamping!
