“Pedal to the Metal” Card Tutorial

April 3, 2020 Leave a Comment

Hi Friends! I was thinkin’ that I was due to make a masculine card, so I pulled out the “Pedal to the Metal” stamp set and this is what I came up with:

Nothing fancy – but honestly, most guys don’t ‘do‘ fancy, right? Regardless, we need simple and easy cards sometimes, and this one not only fits the bill, I think it came out not too badly. Here is the inside of the card:

Measurements:

  • Crumb
    Cake – 11” x 4 ¼”
  • Very
    Vanilla – 2 ¼” x 5 ½” & 4” x 5 ¼ “ plus scrap
pieces for Classic Label Punch & 1 ½ “ Circle Punch
  • Early
    Espresso: 2 ½” x 5 ½” plus 1 ¾” x ½”
  • Merry
    Merlot: ½” x 2”
Instructions:

  1. Fold
Crumb Cake card stock in half to create card base.

  2. Place
Basic Pattern Mask (trees) on front of card and apply Soft Suede Ink
with Sponge Brayer. Repeat on 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Very Vanilla
    (for inside of card).
  3. Ink
truck image from “Pedal to the Metal” with Merry Merlot and
stamp on let side of 2 ¼” x 5 ½” piece of Very Vanilla. Stamp
twice more, without reinking, moving towards the left.
  4. Use
Blender Pen to pull in the ink on the stamped trucks. Use blender
pen to pick more ink from Merry Merlot ink pad to first stamped
truck. *If desired, place stamped card stock in stamparatus,
positioning truck image over the darkest truck. Rub card stock with
embossing buddy, ink stamp with versamark and stamp. Sprink clear
embossing powder over top, shaking off excess, and set with heat
    tool.
  5. Glue
stamped layer to Early Espresso card stock and adhere to front of
    card.
  6. Stamp
“To a great guy” with Merry Merlot ink onto scrap piece of Very
Vanilla. Cut with Classic Label punch, trimming off one end. Glue to
Merry Merlot card stock and place on card with a stampin’
    dimensionals.
  7. Stamp
“Hope your day…” with versamark onto Early Espresso card
stock. Heat in white and place on card with Stampin’Dimensionals.

  8. From
the “Itty Bitty Grettings” set, stamp happy birthday onto scrap
piece of Very Vanilla, using Merry Merlot marker (ink ‘happy’ with
marker, stamp and clean, repeat with ‘birthday’). Glue to bottom of
    card, trimming off excess.
  9. Use
Merry Merlot ink pad to stamp sentiment from “Lots of Happiness”
set on 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Very Vanilla and adhere piece inside
    card.

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
