My First Star

November 8, 2010 6 Comments

Hi Everyone! If you read my earlier post, then you’d know I’ve been working on a star decoration and I promised I post the finished project.

This star is made with the 5 point star die from Stampin’ Up! and the Big Shot. I. LOVE. THIS. DIE. There are soooooo many possibilities. I have another ornament I made with this die that looks completely different than the regular star – I’ll post another time soon. On to the photos….

This is what the star looked like before I started to add the embellishments.
I put cardboard (recycled from the packages of the Designer Series Paper) through the Big Shot first, then I did the same thing with my Newsprint DSP. I could have put them both through at the same time, but I designed this as I went along, just kind of winging it.

Here’s the finished star! What do you think?

My amazing husband suggested the ribbon tails. I wouldn’t have thought of that.

I used coffee to stain the DSP, along with my color spritzer then smooched it. Glass glitter really added the bling – dazzling diamonds are on the tag. Also used the Two-Step Bird Punch with scraps of Deck the Halls DSP for the bird. I used an Antique Brad for the center of the star. I need to get some more of these brads – I absolutely LOVE them. I’m also going to stock up on the glass glitter from the Mini Holiday before it’s over, because I can see myself using it year round – especially for my vintage projects.

I used the Modern Label punch for the tag and punched out a second one in the Real Red card stock to layer the two. The ‘Merry Christmas’ is from the Bells and Boughs stamp set. So old-fashioned looking, isn’t it? I just love this script. How many times is the word ‘ LOVE’ in my posts??? LOL. Sorry – can’t help it. I LOVE it ALL!

That’s it for me today. I’ve got some workshops and classes to prepare for. It’s rainy and damp today, so it’s perfect to have the woodstove on, make a fresh cup of coffee and start cutting cardstock and tags for the Christmas make and tags. Life is good.

HAPPY STAMPING!

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
