Meant to Be Valentine Cards

February 11, 2019 2 Comments

Hi Friends! I hope you had a nice weekend! I had mentioned in my Friday blog post that I was going to a paint night on Saturday with friends. We had a great time! Here’s my finished painting:

In case it’s hard to tell, it’s a boat on the beach, haha! A little lopsided and uneven but hey, that’s okay – it’s been on the beach for years and has been deteriorating! My painting is far from perfect, but we had a good time together and it was a nice, relaxing evening with lots of laughs.

Last Thursday was my monthly card making sessions with the lovely gang at the Heatherton Activity Centre (a workshop for adults with intellectual disabilities). We made Valentine cards and everyone had a great time! I created two card designs using the gorgeous “Meant to Be” bundle.

For the first card, we stamped the “Sheet Music” background with Crumb Cake ink onto Flirty Flamingo card stock. Then we stamped the hearts with Poppy Parade, Flirty Flamingo and Powder Pink ink pads.

All the die cuts were already run through the Big Shot so everyone could just easily add them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The beautiful black die cuts were run through the Big Shot with Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets so we just pulled off the paper backing and stuck them onto the cards. Quick and easy!

I also ran the little hearts through the Big Shot with the Quilted Top Embossing die – doesn’t that add a nice touch? I love how they turned out.
The second card I designed may be my favourite of the two:
This was an easy card to make. We stamped the hearts on the Whisper White layer and added a strip of Poppy Parade card stock along the middle. Popped on a die cut heart, added some ribbon and a little sentiment on the strip.
The bow is made from the “Powder Pink 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon“, which is retired BUT it’s currently on our Clearance Rack, where you can get it for a song (while supplies last). Be sure to check out the Clearance Rack for incredible savings (these discounted products also go towards FREE Sale-a-Bration items too).
Here are the cards my friends made:

Didn’t everyone do a GREAT job on their cards? I forgot to take photos of the gang making their cards this month but here are some pictures from a previous card making session we had. Just looking at these photos makes my heart swell – I truly LOVE spending time with my wonderful friends!

Proceeds from the sales of the cards we make together go back into the centre, so if you live locally, I encourage you to pop in there and buy some cards. The Heatherton Activity Centre is also a bakery, with delicious rolls and buns, pies and squares and more, so it’s really worth your time to swing on by! Here’s their address: Heatherton Activity Centre

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…

Your painting is gorgeous. I'd love to paint that design. My first class was a nighttime Toronto CN Tower with a sunset sky and reflection in the water.

Your cards are adorable. The addition of ribbon to the heart is a unique touch.

    Have a great day, Tina.
