Yesterday I made cards with the wonderful folks at the Heatherton Activity Centre. The centre provides jobs and training for adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. Aside from summer, when they’re closed, I volunteer each month at the centre, where we make cards (which they sell) and we always have a lot of fun. I usually go on a Thursday, but I missed seeing some of the ladies who aren’t at the centre on Thursdays, so I’ve started to volunteer on Mondays too.
Making Cards With My Friends!
I always make sure to bring the Dazzling Diamonds when I know Jessica will be making cards with us – she LOVES glitter! (A girl after my own heart). In the photo above, Jessica is using the Stamparatus; it makes stamping so much EASIER for them to line up images and re-ink & re-stamp if they need to.
I try to design the cards so that they’re easy to assemble and enjoyable for the group. For our cards this month, we used the new “Make a Splash” host stamp set and a retired set, “French Folliage”.
It always fills my heart when I spend time stamping with my friends at the Activity Centre. If you live nearby, be sure to pop in and buy a card – and their baking – and help support this awesome non-profit organization!
PS: we all had a good ole LAUGH when we noticed the fish were stamped upside down on one of the cards….and the sentiment was ‘keep on swimming’! I also had sympathy stamps with me that we could have used too, had we realized the fish were floating earlier! LOL But the ‘keep on swimming’ works too – a perfect encouragement card hee hee.
Enjoy the day & HAPPY STAMPING!
