Inked Double Embossing Technique

September 27, 2023 1 Comment

Hi Friends! This past weekend I attended the “Atlantic Stampers Demonstrator Retreat” and had a FABULOUS time stamping and visiting with friends! While there I received a few comments and questions about a card I brought for the display board:

This card was soooo much FUN to make and I’m happy to share a video demonstration of the technique I used:

I truly love how this card turned out! The cardstock colours that I used are Pool Party, Balmy Blue, Lost Lagoon and Berry Burst. I chose Basic Grey ink for the “Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder”. The sentiment, stamped with Berry Burst ink, is from the “Charming Sentiments” stamp set. In my video I mistakenly said the die cut is from “Sending Smiles”, when in fact it is from the “Sentimental Park” die collection.

This is a super cool card! It’s so different from my ‘normal’ style but I really like it! The background was created using scrap strips from the “Bright & Beautiful Memories & More” cards, and the Basics 3D Embossing Folders. I also used Basic Gray ink on this card. The sticker sentiment is also from the same Memories & More pack and I used the Deckled Circles Dies to cut the white leftover piece from another sticker (I thought that was quite clever LOL). The Night of Navy & Gold 1/2″ Ribbon is GORGEOUS! It’s from our Mini Catalogue, but it’s currently on backorder until approx. Oct 23rd.

Is it just me, or does this card have a 1970’s vibe to it? I think I was channelling my inner “Holly Hobby” when I was creating this! I used the Basic Gray ink pad on a folder from the Basics 3D Embossing Folders, then I cut my panel to make room for the Natural 1/4″ Wavy Trim. The Gilded Leafing really made the flowers from “Hello Ladybug” pop! More scrap DSP was used with the Petal Park Builder Punch for the centre of the flowers, which were sponged, misted with water and scrunched! I added pretty Iridescent Pearls to finish the card.

The above card wasn’t turning out as I hoped, so I ended up covering the Merry Melody 3D embossing folder with Versamark ink and embossing it with gold. It’s hard to tell from the photos, but the colours from the Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper do show through. It’s all about experimenting and having fun – sometimes you never know how a card is going to turn out! The sentiments were cut from a card in the Bright & Beautiful Memories & More pack.

I quite like the 2022-2024 In Colour Designer Series Paper with this technique! I again used the Distressed Tile 3D embossing folder, with Basic Gray ink. The embossed sentiment is from the “Charming Sentiments” set and the dies are from the “Sentimental Park” collection. I used my markers and Clear Wink of Stella on the die cut flowers and leaves.

I’d have to guess at the card stock I used on my original card, as I made it quite a few weeks ago. I’m leaning towards Poppy Parade, Blueberry Bushel, Lemon Lime Twist and Azure Afternoon, but I can’t tell you for sure. I do know some of the strips were white card stock that I had inked up using a blender brush from previous cards! The Distressed Tile embossing folder and sponging were inked with Early Espresso. This card was taken back to the Stampin’ Up! home office in Utah, by Jill Taylor, who attended our demonstrator event last weekend!

Over 70 demonstrators from across the Maritime Provinces attended the “Atlantic Stampers Demonstrator Retreat” last weekend, as well as Jill Taylor (from our home office) and my friend and Canadian Demonstrator District Manager, Genevieve Ko. It was SO GREAT to spend time with friends – and make new ones too! If you live in Canada and would like to join our Stampin’ Up! community, please message me – I’d LOVE to welcome you into my group!

If you have any questions about any of the products that I used, or if you need help placing an order, pop me an email at serenestamper@gmail.com or leave me a comment.

Have a FABULOUS day and HAPPY STAMPING!

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…

Your cards are so very beautiful, Tina. This is the type of thing I like to do when I’m with my girlfriend on our Gelliplate days. I’m off to watch your video. I even decided to teach it to my class on next week’s technique night. As always, you are such an inspiration to me.
