How I film and create my videos for YouTube | VIDEO

April 17, 2020 2 Comments

Happy Friday!

I’ve had many requests from friends and fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrators who’ve been asking me if I’d share with them HOW I make my videos for my YouTube channel. While I don’t know it all, I’m happy to share what works for ME. There are many other ways and programs that you can use, but I am going to show you what I do. You don’t need to invest a ton of money to start filming and create a YouTube channel. I just use my android cell phone to film, a few lights and a basic editing program. I’ll list the links down below of some of the programs and equipment that I use. I’m continually learning and improving but my passion for creating and sharing my video tutorials with others makes it all worthwhile. I hope this video helps you in some way.

♥ The program I use to edit my videos is OLD but I LOVE it. I use the Windows Movie Maker 7. While this particular version is no longer available, there are others (such as Movie Maker 10) available. Do a google search to find an editing program that appeals to you and fits your needs.

♥ To compress my videos, I use the “Handbrake” program. This is a FREE download, which you can get here: Handbrake If you choose to use this and need help with your settings, feel free to contact me and I’ll let you know which settings I use.

♥ I LOVE using PicMonkey to edit all my photos and to create my video thumbnails. There is a FREE version, which is great, but I do use the paid version, as I use PicMonkey daily in my business. PicMonkey

♥ The work lamp that I use when I’m filming my videos is from IKEA: Tertial Lamp

♥ The long LED bar lamp I use is a “BARRINA” brand, which can be found on Amazon HERE.

♥ My tripod is a Velbon X Video, bought years ago from an office stationery store.

♥ The tripod adapter that I use to hold my cell phone while filming can be found on Amazon here: Vastar Tripod Phone Mount Adapter

♥ Once I have published my video to YouTube, I use Constant Contact to send the video to all my newsletter subscribers, customers and YouTube followers who have signed up for my newsletter. I’ve used Constant Contact for more than a decade and it’s been a game-changer in my business for me. To get a FREE 60-day trial (and a 30% discount after that), click on my link here: Constant Contact Free Trial (no credit card required)

Feel free to leave comments and any questions that you may have and I’ll do my best to answer you.

April 18, 2020 Update:

I’ve received a few requests for information on the settings I use in Handbrake, to compress my videos. So I’ve created some screenshots for those of you who are using this program. Click on the images below to enlarge:

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…

Oh my gosh, Tina, I had no idea how much work goes into creating a You Tube video. Thank you so much for sharing your process. And just so you know I love your videos and the music and look forward to watching them. Thank you again.
