Two more days until Christmas! Are you ready?  I hope you are! It’s time to relax and enjoy friends and family and just take in the holiday season.  My hubby and I are planning a nice, quiet Christmas.  Unfortunately we live too far away from our families to celebrate with them but we are lucky to have dear friends to spend Christmas with.  After we have our “Swedish Pancake” breakfast we’ll spend time skyping with family (thank God for skype) and then we’ll just relax and probably take our dogs for a nice, snowy walk (it’s supposed to snow on the 25th). Last year we started a new tradition with our friends to go see a movie after our turkey dinner and we’re doing it again this year.  We’ll be going to see the second Hobbit movie and I can’t wait because the first one was fantastic.

On to today’s project! This is brooch I made for some Christmas gifts, using white felt and the Festive Flurry framelits.  Yes, the framelits will indeed cut through the felt – just use a shim and run through the Big Shot a few times.  Once the snowflakes were cut out I used Tombow glue to add the design and sprinkled Silver Glitter over top.  Then I tapped off the excess glitter and set aside to dry (over night is best).
I used my glue gun to stack the snowflakes on top of each other and
embellished with a Vintage Button, a rhinestone and a Bakers Twine bow.
A little hot glue and a piece of scrap felt was used to add the brooch
on the back.
I think these snowflakes would be beautiful as a banner, decorations, embellishments or even just on a greeting card.  I even tried cutting denim with the Festive Flurry framlits and it worked well too so I can’t wait to create some scrapbook pages with the snowflakes.

Well, I’ve got to scoot.  Our power is flickering off and on today, with the freezing rain causing havoc outside.  Thank goodness for our cozy woodstove if the power goes off.
There’s a chance of wind tonight which could potentially break the branches on trees which are heavy with ice.  That could mean a lot more power outages and a real mess. So we’ll be staying put – I’m grateful we don’t have to drive anywhere.  If you have to travel please take your time and be safe.
Merry Christmas, dear friends, and may the New Year bring you light, love and laughter and all that you are hoping for.

HAPPY STAMPING!

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
