Cookie Recipe & Fabric Give-Away!

September 22, 2011 4 Comments

Hi Everyone!

I’ve had some requests for the cookie recipe that I used for my recent Holiday Sneak Peek event, so I thought I’d post it on my blog to share with everyone! I love recipes that make a lot of cookies (perfect for freezing!) and I especially love recipes that can be turned into a gift! This recipe is perfect for gift-giving because you can quickly add the ingredients (most of which are already in your pantry) into a 1 quart canning jar, add some fabric and a label with baking directions and VOILA! A lovely gift for a special someone! And the cookies really are to-die-for! Especially with a nice cup of coffee or tea!

To view the recipe, go the the RECIPE page on this blog.

The fabric I used is called Spice Cake, from our ‘Spice Cake Product Line’ in the new Holiday Mini – isn’t it sweet??  I love the designs! So country chic. The beautiful colours give a feeling of a crisp fall morning, don’t you think?  The fabric bag was given to those us who attended the Stampin’ Up! Convention this past summer. I used it as a purse (though now it holds my new SIMPLY SCORED tool!) and I received a ton of compliments on it! The big Spice Cake designer buttons are just too much fun too! To view our fabric line, click HERE.

I haven’t had a give-away for a while

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…

This is a great idea. Before I retired I did these a number of years with cookie, soup, muffin and brownie mixes. Everyone loved them and they are so easy to put together.

    Sand Castle Brownie Mix
    1/3 c. chopped nuts
    1/2 c. semisweet chocolate chips
    1/3 c. flaked coconut
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/3 c. baking cocoa
    1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
In a 1 quart glass container, layer these ingredients in the order listed, packing well between each layer. Cover; store in a cool dry place up to 6 months.

    To prepare brownies:
    2 eggs
    1/2 c. vegetable oil
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
In a bowl, combine eggs, oil, vanilla & brownie mix, mix well. Spread into a greased 8" square baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
    YIELD: about 2 dozen

Loved the recipe for the Cowboy cookies and tips on how to layer in a jar for gift-giving. Sounds perfect……. will definitely give these a try.

Here's a quick little recipe that's great for Halloween season. Not my original idea but I've made them several times and they are always a hit. Change up sprinkles and candy coating for the season. Cute and tasty.

    Marshmallow Pops:
    Tools:
    • 4 in. Lollipop Sticks
    • Non-Stick Parchment Paper or Wax Paper
    Ingredients:
    • Orange Candy Melts
    • Midnight Black Candy Melts
    • Spooky Green Candy Melts
    • Halloween Sprinkle Mix
    • Large marshmallows
Simply start by placing a lollipop stick through the center of each large marshmallow.

In a microwave safe cup, melt any color of Wilton Candy Melts for 30 seconds at a time on a medium heat, stirring between each reheat.50% power for a total of 3 minutes 30 seconds worked out perfectly for about 1 cup of candy melts.

Rather than dip the marshmallows like you would a strawberry in chocolate, I found it worked best to roll the marshmallows through the candy melt, then roll the marshmallow along the inside of the cup to remove excess candy coating.

Dip in sprinkles of your choice and package individually in cellophane pieces or small clear bags. Tie off and add a gift tag.
