“Be Merry” Christmas Banners

December 12, 2018 Leave a Comment

Hi Friends! Today’s project I’m sharing with you are sweet Christmas banners, perfect for holiday decorating. I used Crumb Cake card stock cut into 1 1/2″ x 3″ pieces and the words were cut with my Layering Alphabet dies.

You could use any card stock and Designer Series Paper. The tag in between the words is where the creativity really sets in! I used bits and pieces I had leftover from previous cards and projects but you could use any stamp set or decoration that you want. These banners take no time at all to put together and are easy enough for both kids and adults to enjoy. The decorative tag can also be as simple or elaborate as you choose. Here is the first banner I made – my favourite – using the Dashing Deer Bundle for the tag:

I felt like a kid while making this tag, because I simply ‘played’ and let my creativity lead the way. I had my favourite Christmas music playing in the background, a cup of hot chocolate (I absolutely LOVE hot chocolate), and it was so fun and relaxing. I was quite pleased with the end result too. Creativity truly is the best therapy!
Here is the banner I made in the video, using the Sprig Punch:
This banner has an entirely different look compared to my first one, with the green plaid letters and the sprig tree!
I had lots of sprig leaves and bird pieces left over from wreath ornaments I’d made last month – this banner is a great way to use up those bits!
I was actually quite pleased with how my little sprig tree turned out – considering I’d never used this punch to make a tree before! Nothing like ‘winging’ it while filming! LOL  Scroll down to see a couple more banners!

As shown in my video, I made two more tags to demonstrate the versatility of today’s project, and I completed two more banners with them:

The “Spirited Snowmen” stamp set is so cute and whimsical and adorable on this banner:
I used Clear Wink of Stella to add some glimmer to the snowman’s body, Dazzling Diamonds on the hat trim, and Fine-Tip Glue on the boots, twigs, buttons, nose, hat and scarf to add some gloss and texture.
I just adore the Farmhouse Christmas bundle!!! Another fun tag – I added some Shimmer White Embossing Paste for the snow. I love how this tag looks on the banner:
I stamped the words using the “Letters For You” set before I cut them with the coordinating dies. Also, I first inked half the letters with Coastal Cabana, then the other half with Blueberry Bushel, lightly mist with water and then stamped onto Whisper White card stock.
Once the card stock was dry, I stamped snowflakes, from the “Spirited Snowmen” set, using Versamark, directly on top of the letters and embossed in white. I love how the letters turned out!
Embossing paste is just the coolest! The fence panel was another piece leftover from a previous project – sure is a time saver to have all these little gems cut and ready to craft with!
My “Be Merry” Christmas banner looks so pretty, decorating my kitchen – I  just love it!!

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
