Hi Friends. Well, I think I can’t deny it any longer…winter really is just around the corner. This morning I woke up to a very heavy frost – the kind where you have to scrape it off the car windows. It’s 1′ out and I’m going to have to start wearing a coat and put my flip flops in the closet. So sad. I love autumn with it’s colours, warm days and cool nights. Just the other day I was barefoot in the yard, playing with my dogs (I love feeling the grass under my feet). As much as I embrace all four seasons, the cold winters are not my favourite. The good news is I’m still enjoying my veg garden, despite the cooler temperatures we’re getting.
Yesterday evening I was in my garden, picking some Swiss chard and leeks to have alongside my butternut squash (also from my garden) and beets for supper last night. Nothing compares to veggies that are THAT fresh, right? I steamed it all up, added a little butter, salt and pepper and I was in heaven. The warm slices of homemade bread topped it all off!
Only one hour, from start to finish, for this delicious bread! Click the recipe tab at the top of the page if you want to make some – it’s easy and absolutely divine. |
I still have quite a few tomatoes that I picked a few weeks back, ripening in a box. They’ll be turned into another batch of salsa tonight – that should be it for my canning this year. Then I think it’ll be time to till the garden, plant some garlic for the Spring, and start planning next year’s crop of veg. If you’re a gardener too, then you know how much fun it is to plan and design – and the patience in waiting to get started!
So that’s my gardening update – now let’s get onto today’s card!
Stampin’ Up! has announced that our FABULOUS new “Blends” Alcohol Markers will be available for everyone to purchase starting on November 1st! Woohoo! You are truly going to go crazy over these markers, my friends. They. Are. AWESOME.
I used the Blends on today’s card. I first embossed my images then coloured them in with the alcohol markers. Some of the embossing ‘disappeared’ after colouring so next time I would
stamp the images in a soft colour first, like Sahara Sand, then colour
with my Blends, then stamp on top and then emboss. I am still quite
pleased with how the card turned out though!
The sentiment is from the “Window Shopping” stamp set, embossed in silver. The leaves are embossed in copper and gold. I also added an acorn, from the “Painted Harvest” stamp set.
cut out the ‘inside’ bit with my paper trimmer to save it for another project. Do you do this too?
