Four Cards from My Stash (Using What I Had on Hand)

April 13, 2026 2 Comments

Hi friends,

I had every intention of filming a video this weekend, but sometimes life has other plans. Instead, I found a quiet hour to sit at my desk, slow down, and just play a little… and honestly, it was exactly what I needed.

I pulled out some leftover pieces from the masterboard I shared in my last two videos, along with a few bits and pieces from my stash — ribbon, pre-made bows, die-cut tags, older stamps, and even a couple of embellishments I had tucked away.

Just using what I have… and making something beautiful with it. I’m really enjoying going through my craft supplies (most that I’ve had for YEARS) and using all those little treasures.

These are the four cards that came out of that quiet hour, and I have to say, it felt so nice to slow down, relax, and just create.

All four of these cards were created using leftover pieces from the masterboard I shared in my previous two videos: Too Many Scraps? Make Embossed Masterboards & One Masterboard, So Many Cards!

The backgrounds are made up of those masterboard pieces, and the focal images are from the “Squeaky Mischief” washi tape from The Washi Tape Shop. I finished them off with a few embellishments from my stash — some retired Stampin’ Up! pieces and even a couple of finds from Dollarama.

I have to say, while I’m really enjoying using what I have, these tapes from The Washi Tape Shop have definitely become a bit of a “must-have” in my stamp room.

If you’re curious about the washi tape I used, you can take a look HERE. You can also use my code SERENESTAMPER10 to save a little if you decide to pick some up.

I love the little mouse image on this card so much! Look at those big brown eyes – just tugs at your heart, right? I couldn’t resist adding a bit of glossy accents to make this stand out even more.

With these tapes, you can also layer the designs to create a bit more depth. I layered some of the leaves and flowers here to give the little mouse a soft place to sit, almost like it’s nestled right into the ground.

Using embossing folders on my masterboards has quickly become one of my favourite techniques — it adds so much depth and interest to the background. I demonstrated how I did this in my masterboard video HERE.

For this card, I used a simple die-cut tag with a bit of stamping to create a soft base for the washi tape pieces. The sentiment is from a little ephemera booklet I found at our local Dollarama, and I added a touch of Glossy Accents to the sentiment, the butterfly, and those beautiful little eyes on the mouse for a bit of shine.

For some reason, I struggled a bit with this card and how to finish it. It took me a bit of time to land on a ribbon bow that felt just right. Then I started adding more washi tape to the background, put on some gems, took them off again, and eventually decided to pop up the sentiment pieces and add a bit more Glossy Accents for texture and dimension.

Sometimes you just have to take a little time to try different elements… and eventually something clicks and fits.

In the end, I think it turned out pretty cute!

This card may be my favourite out of all four… simply because that little mouse flopped over on the boot is so stinkin’ adorable, I can’t even handle it LOL. And honestly… I also feel like that little mouse some days! 😊

I added the cute little bee (from the same “Squeaky Mischief” washi tape roll), a bit of background stamping with Basic Beige ink, and a twine bow that I found at the bottom of my ribbon basket — the colours were perfect.

The sentiment is also from a Dollarama ephemera booklet, and I added a bit more Glossy Accents for dimension and shine. I wasn’t quite sure about the gem, but I left it… and I think I like it.

It was a bit tricky to photograph the sentiment with the high gloss, but I wanted to show you how nice it looks on this card.

Honestly, I’m going to be picking up more rolls of this “Squeaky Mischief” tape because I want to make a lot more cards, journals, tags, and projects with it — I’m absolutely in love with it!

I did share all of the images from this “Squeaky Mischief” tape in my last video (around the 26:11 mark) if you’d like to see all the sweet little designs… there are gnomes, strawberries, butterflies, mushrooms, and more of those cute little mice!

I also have more tapes from The Washi Tape Shop that are just as gorgeous, so stay tuned… I’ll be sharing more fun projects with you soon.

As you can see, there’s a lot you can do with your scrap papers—and for me, masterboards are a favourite. I hope you enjoyed today’s cards and found a little inspiration along the way.

Have a wonderful day… and happy stamping!

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
