Embossing Folder Tricks You’ll Love – Patterned Paper, Gold Heat Embossing & More!

August 9, 2025 4 Comments

Hi Friends! If you enjoyed my last embossing folder technique, you’re going to love this one! Today I’m sharing several creative ways to take your embossing folders to the next level.

This time, I’m swapping out the ink-and-water background for patterned paper, using darker inks instead of white, and even stamping between the raised embossed areas for a layered, textural look. I’ve also added gold heat embossing for extra elegance.

Once again, I’ll be using the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder (how could I not? It’s GORGEOUS!), as well as the retired Falling Leaves Folder.

And of course, some of my finished cards feature my exclusive Serene Stamper Sentiments printable sheet — which you can get for free as my gift to you (details below).

Check this out:

The layers of ink AND stamped images are in between the raised embossed portions of the card stock! Is that cool, or what?! I LOVE IT!

Once you’ve got your inked and stamp portions done, you can either leave the embossed portions of the card stock as is, or add some colour with your inks and blending brushes:

So many options, SO MUCH FUN! To see how I created these cards, watch my video – and trust me – I crammed quite a few techniques into this demonstration (I couldn’t stop playing lol).

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…

    Hi Tina.
I recently watched your video on making card backgrounds. I signed up to receive emails from you as well as the ability to download your sentiments you were sharing, thank you by the way. However, I ran into a problem on my tablet when trying to download the sentiments. I tried to retrieve them using my cell phone without luck. I was hoping you might be able to email them or maybe I could sign up using my husband’s email address, if that would be easier. Can’t wait to watch more of your videos in the future.
    Sincerely,
    Janet

      Hi Janet,

Hi Janet. Thank you so much for your sweet comment — I’m so glad you’re enjoying my videos! 💖 I’m sorry you had trouble downloading the sentiments. Sometimes tablets and phones can be a bit tricky with downloads. I’ll go ahead and email them to you directly so you’ve got them handy, and if you’d ever like to use your husband’s email to sign up too, that would work just fine.

Happy stamping — and I can’t wait to share more projects with you!

    Hi Tina,
I’m 69 years old, live in Antwerp/Belgium/Europe and am a great lover of making handmade recycled cards, by cutting and pasting the cards I receive from family or friends. Since I discovered
your YouTube videos, you convinced me to buy an embossing machine and tools…(which is not cheap at all) but since my husband passed away( in 2021) you made my smile and dive in the world of stamping. Thank you so much for your enthousiasm and your positive vibes you even here in Antwerp !!!

    With kind regards,
    Gerd

Oh Gerd, your comment touched my heart BIG TIME. 💖 Thank you for reaching out. I’m so sorry for the loss of your husband, and I’m honoured that my videos have brought you some joy and inspiration. I love that you’ve discovered stamping and are creating with your recycled cards — how special is that! Knowing my videos are inspiring you all the way in Antwerp makes me smile big. Thank you for sharing your story and for crafting along with me. Sending you hugs across the miles! xoxo
