Fast & Fun Cards with Negative Die Cuts | Changing Leaves Bundle

October 24, 2024 Leave a Comment

Hi Friends! If you’re like me, you love finding creative ways to use every last scrap from your crafting stash. In today’s tutorial, I’m excited to show you how to use negative die cuts to create fast, easy, and beautiful cards using the Changing Leaves bundle from Stampin’ Up!

Using negative die cuts is one of my favourite techniques for mass-producing cards, especially when you’re short on time but still want to make something special. With just one ink pad, my stamp positioning tool, and a few metallic paint splatters, these cards come together in a snap!

Here’s how to create these cards:

  1. Start with your negative die cuts left over from previous projects (on today’s cards I was using the Meandering Meadows Designer Series Paper).
  2. Place the negative die cut on top of card stock (5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, which will be folded in half for card base). I used my stamp positioning tool, so if you’re doing the same, put your card stock inside the tool first.
  3. Place the stamps that correspond to the die cuts ‘inside’ the negative die cut (DSP). Pick up with the stamp positioning tool. Remove the negative die cut. Ink images and stamp onto the card stock.
  4. Glue the negative die cut (DSP) piece on top of the stamped card stock. Trim off excess.
  5. If you wish, add a few metallic paint splatters to add a touch of fun and shimmer.
  6. Stamp sentiment onto scrap piece of Basic White card stock. Trim and place on front of card with foam adhesive strip.
  7. Voila! Your quick and easy card is ready!

*Note: I wanted to use up some of my retired Parakeet Party & Tahitian Tide card stock, which is what I used for the card bases on all of my cards. I also used Shaded Spruce ink for all of my stamping.

Whether you’re crafting for the Autumn season, birthdays, or just because, these cards are perfect for any occasion. Plus, mass-producing them is so simple, you can have a stash ready to go in no time!

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
