“Simply Said” Birthday Card Tutorial

June 11, 2024 2 Comments

Hi Friends! Today I made a card using leftover scrap pieces of Designer Series Papers that have been sitting on my desk:

I absolutely love creating cards with bits and pieces like this! The layout is simple and quick, but I added a special touch with some heat embossing and SEWING! It’s been ages since I used my sewing machine on my cards and paper projects, and I forgot how much I adore the unique touch that needle and thread bring. I think it’s high time my sewing machine gets its own table in my stamp room, instead of being tucked away on a shelf in the closet!

MEASUREMENTS:

  • Basic White: 11” x 4 ¼”, 3 ¾” x 5”
  • Basic Black: 1 ¼” x 3”
  • Scrap strips of Designer Series Papers

IINSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Fold 11” x 1 ¼” Basic White card stock in half to create card base.
  2. Stamp splatter image from “Irresistible Blooms” using Pretty in Pink ink on the 3 ¾” x 5” Basic White card stock.
  3. Stamp sentiment from “Simply Said” set with Versamark ink onto black card stock. Sprinkle with white embossing powder, shake off excess and set with heat tool. Repeat using hearts from “Sending Love” stamp set. Flag end and glue to 3 ¾” x 5” white card stock.
  4. Cut strips of leftover Designer Series Papers and flag ends. On card sample Full of Lilfe DSP is ¾” x 3 ½”; Lilly Pond DSP is ¾” x 3” and Thoughtful Journey DSP measures 3 ¾” x (just shy of) ½”. Flag all the ends and glue to white card layer.
  5. If desired, sew across front of strips.
  6. Stamp heart from “Sending Love” set with black ink and draw arrow with Basic Black marker.
  7. Adhere the 3 ¾” x 5” panel to front of card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  8. Add Clear Wink of Stella inside hearts to finish card.

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
