Front Panel Stepper Cards

Hi Friends. Do you sometimes hit a wall and you just can’t seem to come with a fresh & new idea for your card making? Guess what? That happened to me recently and as luck would have it, a fellow stamper friend (Debbie Mullin) led me to some wonderful inspiration!

Debbie had sent me a message asking if I had ever made the cards in THIS video, demonstrated by Jill Lancett. I had not, but I told Debbie I couldn’t wait to try them. Well, lemme just tell ya, friends…I’m HOOKED on this card design!

Jill calls these ‘mantelpiece cards’ – which I think is a fabulous name for them! I’ve decided to call them “Front Panel Stepper Cards”. I’m sure this card design has been around for years – but like Jill, I hadn’t this type of fun fold before.

I love the idea of adding a panel to the back of the card for the sentiment and message.

I slightly tweaked Jill’s measurements from imperial to metric and added my own little twists. You won’t believe how EASY *and ADDICTIVE* these cards are to make!

• Card base: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
• Along 8 1/2″ side score down at 2 /8″, rotate card stock and repeat on the opposite side (this will create the two flaps).
• Line the 5 1/2″ side at 1 1/8″ and cut in between the centre score lines. Rotate card stock and repleat on opposite side.
• Line the 8 1/2″ side at 3 1/8″ and score only inside the cut lines. Rotate card stock and repeat on oppositie side.
• Use bonefolder along the outside flap score lines.
• Pinch the inside ‘mountain’ steps to bring the two flaps together in centre. Press down the middle front panel.
• Cut two strips of Designer Series Paper to measure 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″ – glue to each flap panel.
• Cut four strips of Designer Series Paper to measure 1 7/8″ x 1″ – glue to top and bottom ‘mountain’ panels.
• Front Panel: 4″ x 3 1/4″ (inside layer 3 3/4″ x 3″)
• Back Panel for sentiment: 4″ x 5 1/4″

There are so many possibilies with this layout.
