Fractured/Faux Shutter Cards 4 Ways!

Hi Friends. First, let me start off by saying that I forgot how BUSY this time of year is for me. Every year I forget that – and by the time October rolls around I remember – usually when I’m about to drop LOL. Aside from cooking for the tuna charters (which finishes next week), I’m still in full swing with canning and preserving our fruit and veggies.

I can’t get over how many green beans and zucchini I’m STILL harvesting from our garden!!! Our sugar pumpkins, which I’ve never grown before, are absolutely amazing and I’ve still got beets, turnips and celery to harvest, as well as my herbs. Our carrots and corn were a disappointment this year – perhaps because we’ve had more rain than sun this summer. No matter – I only planted the carrots for Rosey because they’re her favourite and she loves to dig them out and enjoy her treat. The corn looks impressive in our garden, but the yield doesn’t seem to justify the space it takes – I doubt I’ll plant any again. Right now I’m in the midst of making pickled onions, which are brined three days before peeling, jarring and processing. They’re a ton of work but so worth it – the recipe is from my Great Grandma and it’s my favourite!

Rest assured, I HAVE been squeezing in time to enjoy Autumn (my favourite season) and catch my breath a bit too. Rosey and Cooper and I took a delightful stroll and swim at the beach earlier this week:

…and last weekend Brian and I took a much needed get-away, (we went to New Brunswick), and we had an awesome time!

Suffice it to say, I’ve not had much free time for stamping and making videos lately. As it is, it’s past 11pm and I’m still uploading today’s video whilst typing this blog post. As soon as it’s published, this girl is going to bed! On that note – let’s get on to today’s cards!

I honestly don’t know how I missed the “Fractured Card” (aka Faux Shutter Cards) craze until now. My friend, Kay Smith, demonstrated them at our stamping event a couple of weeks ago and until then, I had never even heard of this technique. It’s so easy, so versatile and so much FUN! If this card design is new to you, I hope you give it a try. If you’ve seen/made these already, hopefully my spin on the “Fractured Cards” gives you some different ideas that you can use too!

We may have a bit of a storm rolling in this weekend – it’s a bit ‘up in the air’ if it’s going to be quite bad or not, so we’ll just have to wait and see. Instead of making a turkey for Thanksgiving, we’re going to put a couple of chickens on the rotisserie. I’d rather play it safe and use the BBQ, than try to make a turkey dinner with the power potentially going out. Brian and I have been picking apples like crazy – I’ve never seen the trees so loaded in all my life – so I’m going to make apple pie for Thanksgiving dessert.
