Happy Thanksgiving & “Poinsettia Petals” Card Tutorial

October 12, 2020 Leave a Comment

Hi Friends! I hope you had a nice weekend. Today is Thanksgiving, here in Canada, so “Happy Thanksgiving” to my fellow Canadians!  We had a nice roast chicken dinner with family yesterday and today I’m making our turkey supper with all the trimmings. I’d have to say that this is my one of my favourite meals: turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, veggies, candied sweet potatoes, and fresh dinner rolls. We’re usually too full for dessert but I LOVE pumpkin pie so I may make one later this week, to enjoy after all our turkey leftovers!

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is already here and even harder to believe that Christmas is right around the corner! My mind is in full Christmas swing, planning and sorting my gift giving, decorating, baking and of course, cards! The card I’m sharing with you today is one of the designs for my cards this year. I’ll be making more using different designer series papers and colours but with the same layout. It’s an easy card to make and lots of fun to assemble. I hope you enjoy this tutorial, which is also my submission for this month’s “Leaders Project Sheet Group”!

Measurements:

  • Whisper
    White: 8 ½” x 5 ½” (for card base) , 3 ¼” x 1 ¼” (for
    sentiment)

  • In
    Good Taste Designer Series Paper: 4” x 5 ¼” (pink pattern) , 8
    ½” x 4 ¼” (for die cuts)

Instructions:

  1. Fold
Whisper White card stock in half to create card base.

  2. Place
large square die onto 4” x 5 ¼” Designer Series Paper and run
through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Glue to front of
    card.

  3. Use
Versamark Ink Pad to stamp two each of the large, medium and small
    Poinsettia images onto the 4 ¼” x 8 ½” piece of Designer
Series Paper. Sprinkle Gold Emboss Powder over top, shaking off the
excess, and set with heat tool.

  4. Cut
the Poinsettias with their coordinating dies and Stampin’ Cut &
    Emboss Machine.

  5. Use
the Liquid Glue to adhere the largest petal die cut onto the card
front, inside the centre of the square. Repeat with another large
petal cut, staggering over the first one, and use a dimensional to
adhere . Repeat with the medium petal die cuts, finishing with the
    two small ones.

  6. Use
Mini Glue Dots to adhere the Beaded Pearl embellishment to the
    centre of poinsettia.

  7. Add
some gold twine to card front (which will be behind the sentiment),
using Mini Glue Dots to hold in place.

  8. Stamp
the “Peace, Joy, Love” sentiment from “Dove of Hope” set
with Versamark Ink pad onto the 3 ¼” x 1 ¼” Whisper White card
stock. Emboss with the gold powder and cut with Stitched Rectangle
Die. Place on card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
