Hi Friends. Well, lemme just tell ya…getting today’s video up was a wee bit of a challenge. I was a tad nervous, committing to a video for seven days in a row, because of the undependability of our rural internet connection, but I really wanted to do this series. However, better late than never, and I’ve got everything up and posted before midnight! LOL
I’m calling today’s technique “Embossed Masking” and it is SO MUCH FUN! The possibilities with this technique are endless. Masking paper and heat embossing are paired up to create beautiful backgrounds for cards. You can use dies, punches, and different colours of embossing powders and keep it simple or step it up. In my video I show a few ways you can use this technique.

EMBOSSED MASKING WITH HOLLY BERRY DIES
EMBOSSED MASKING WITH STARLIT PUNCH
I used a Blending Brush to sponge ink on one of cards below, to show you the difference compared to heat embossing. Pretty, right? The colours I used were Tahitian Tide, Starry Night and Night of Navy,
Product List for Today’s Cards
I can’t wait to make some more Christmas cards using the “Embossed Masking Technique”. I’m itchin’ to try it with my deer builder punch, Grove dies , reindeer dies, and the Perched in a Tree Bundle. Snowflakes would be pretty too. Truth be told, I had die-cut some masking paper with beautiful snowflakes for one of today’s cards, but getting the backing off those intricate designs was not a pretty sight. So if you decide to use detailed dies on your Christmas card, like snowflakes, make sure you give that card to someone REALLY SPECIAL! LOL
Don’t forget to give this technique a try with your flowers, leaves and other dies/punches for birthday and other all-occasion cards too!
Tomorrow’s Christmas card video will be showcasing some of my favourite designs for mass production.
HAPPY STAMPING!
