Watercolour Flower Card

February 11, 2016 3 Comments

Hi Friends.  I can’t believe that this is my 700th blog post! WOW. I honestly don’t know where the time goes; my very first blog post was March 16, 2009. In a way that seems like eons ago, yet in another way it seems like only yesterday.

Today’s card is a fun one. I recently posted a photo on my facebook page of the thank you cards I made for my customers for their recent online orders:

I was surprised at the amazing response I received from some of you, especially my friend Mim, requested a video on how I made this card. I really felt like playing with my inks and stamps when I made these and had no real layout or particular design in mind.  I was happy with how the watercolour paper turned out and I know I’ll be using it for a few more projects:

The small flowers I made using the Petite Petals punch were pretty, using this background, but I want to create something else that really showcases this fun technique. I’ll be sure to share what I come up with.  Until then, here is today’s card video for you:

I also mentioned in the video that I had a pot of soup on while I was filming and it smelled amazing. Here’s the recipe: Chicken & Rice Soup. I’ve made this soup a few times before, especially for my full-day stamping events, and everyone that has it loves it. I hope you will too! I tweaked it today by adding spaetzel and stock I made from a recent roast turkey dinner, and I must say, it was fabulous!

I also made some of my favourite dinner rolls to go with the soup and you can find the recipe for them under the RECIPES tab on the top of this page. These are super easy to make and are absolutely melt-in-your-mouth delicious! I love making homemade bread – it’s incredibly therapeutic and calming; kneading and watching it turn from  a simple dough into something totally divine. As a side note, I recall my dad telling me how my Grandma would have her homemade bread, with molasses, waiting for him and his sisters when they came home from school when they were kids. I thought that sounded so disgusting. Until I moved to the East Coast (where my dad was raised and bread and molasses is popular) and tried it with fresh dinner rolls – holey moley, delish!

On that note, I’m going to scoot to have my dinner!

HAPPY STAMPING! xx

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
