Stamping & family traditions

November 9, 2011 Leave a Comment

Hi Everyone! You have heard about using stamps to create cards and scrapbooks, but family traditions? Yes, it’s true. If you are looking for a way to bring the family together and to start a new tradition, just look to your stamps. With the holidays quickly approaching, spending quality time with family becomes even more important – a perfect excuse to bring out the stamps!

Here are some ideas to inspire some family traditions:
A New Take on Holiday Baking
Check out the Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps (#125152) for your holiday baking. Gather the family and have them help with making the dough and stamping the cookies. You can also take this one step further and have the family help with making boxes (like our Kraft Gift Boxes #124106), stamping tags, and tying ribbons to make packages of your homemade cookies for friends, neighbours, or your community outreach for families in need. Making gifts and helping others has a way of bringing families even closer together and a way of inspiring gratitude.
Look at this Kraft box, gorgeously decorated by DeAnn Rouzi! I LOVE it!  All you need is a bit of imagination and your gifts will be a real ‘WOW!’
Family Scrapbook
Get out your scrapbooking supplies, embellishments, and stamps and set aside time for the family to get together. Simply Scrappin’ Kits, like our Christmas Lane(#124007) and Tickets & Tags (#122373), are perfect for this. Encourage each person to create a layout or two to become part of that year’s family scrapbook. You can even have a theme and have everyone use that theme for creating their pages and layouts. New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day are perfect times for a project like this and gives each person time to reflect on the past year and the year ahead. This is a tradition that could also be done periodically throughout the year and then finished and assembled during the holidays.  And if you need some ideas and/or a jumpstart to this project, you may want to consider coming to my Christmas scrapbook class! Check my Calendar of Events for details.  Click HERE.
In addition to these, you can also make cards together for families in need in the community or you can partner with a local organization that would be in need of cards for holidays and throughout the year.  And don’t forget about the service men & women who are away from home – make them a card too!
So consider starting a new tradition with your family (and friends!) this holiday season that involves stamps and papercrafting. It is great for all ages, and creates a lot of memories to treasure in the years to come.

HAPPY STAMPING!

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
