Stamp images using Black Stazon ink onto a piece of watercolor paper
Ink stamp and place on plastic sheet (which comes with Stamp-a-ma-jig) and line up the handle.
Position on card stock where you want the image to go.
Line up handle to the plastic, remove plastic sheet and stamp image.
VOILA! Perfectly positioned! (I wanted the branch right under the pheasant’s feet)
Mist water color paper with water. You want it generously wet but not dripping.
Using the aqua painter, I added some green by taking the aqua painter directly to the water color crayon.
Squeeze the aqua painter and let the color flow onto the card stock.
Doing the same with blue
The paper will start to curl and the water will move down to the edge so use some paper towel to absorb that excess water.
Now I’ve added some purple. Isn’t it pretty how the colors blend together? I love it! This is a fantastic way to create backgrounds.
Let your card stock dry completely. I zapped it with the heat tool, which also straightened the card stock.
Trim image and position on page. By the way, did you notice the end of the tail feathers had been cut off? I did that on purpose! (Honest!)
Now place plastic sheet over the image, lining up the bird. Position the Stamp-a-ma-jig to the plastic and carefully remove the plastic sheet and card stock.
Stamp bird using Black Stazon ink.
May not look like much, but that thar bird is exactly where I want’im.
Not one to waste a single piece of card stock, I mat the water colored piece with Basic Black.
Will ya looky there! Now you can see why I cut of the birdies feathers. *wink* I like how the tail image shows underneath the main focal piece. Pretty cool, hey? Hard to believe that somethin’ so simple can make me so darn happy…LOL! Before I adhere this though, I want to add some texture to the card….
…by using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder! This folder seriously ROCKS!
Crankin’er’through…
I just LOVE LOVE LOVE my BIG SHOT!!
Schaaaa-wwwweeettt!
Using a piece of scrap paper leftover from water coloring, I add my sentiment using the ‘Teeny Tiny Wishes’ stamp set.
FYI: This set is soooo versatile and I’d have to say it’s one of my best sellers. Check it out on pg 157 of the Idea Book & Catalogue – there are 24 stamps in this set!!!
Now I’m taking the Water Color Crayons directly to my stamp. I just scribbled on some More Mustard and Soft Suede to the wheat image.
Mist the water color paper with water and stamp! Hold the stamp onto the paper for a few moments, then lift off. I like how the image bleeds into the paper fibers. If you don’t want the image to spread like this, you would mist with less water.
Using my Mat Pack and Hobby Blade, I’m cutting out my wheat. It’s really not hard or time consuming. And besides, this card is for my hubby and he’s worth it. *wink*
Ta-Da!
Time for a bit of MAGIC! Mix a few drops of the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint into a spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol. Shake WELL!
Spray onto card – the shimmer is truly DAZZLING!
Using the shimmer paint this way is my new favourite technique and I seem to be misting it on to practically EVERYTHING I’ve been stamping lately…LOL The photos don’t do it justice either. You’re just going to have buy some of your own Champagne Mist and try it yourself. Trust me. You’ll fall in love. #116806. It will make you HAPPY!
Being the wild woman that I am, I took a strip of Black Grosgrain Ribbon (which is so gorgeous), and I cut it in half. Crazy. I know.
But look what happens when you pull on some of the threads!
I love the frayed look of the ribbon. Perfect for this card.
My finished card. The inside was too lovey-dovey to show to the world, but I used My Digital Studio to type my poem. Then I just printed it out and adhered to the inside.
Have a wonderful day and HAPPY STAMPING!
