Hi Friends! Yesterday I spent some time stamping some cards and I put the camera on to share what I was creating with you. The layout is one that I used in my Mystery Stamping Hour last week and I really loved it, which is why I wanted to make more cards using this same design. This is also a great layout when you’re going for the ‘polaroid’ photo look for your cards and projects!
The measurements & details are as follows:
- Basic Black card stock: 11″ x 4 1/4″, fold in half for card base and run front flap through an embossing folder.
- Basic White card stock: 4 1/4″ x 3″
- Meandering Meadows Designer Series Paper: 2 5/8″ x 2 5/8″
- Basic Black card stock: 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″, glue this layer behind the DSP
Once you have completed the initial steps of cutting and gluing, there are numerous creative possibilities for stamping and decorating to enhance your card! As you will see today, I pulled in different stamp sets and came up with these six cards:
I’ve fast-forwarded a significant portion of this video, as I spent a couple of hours playing & stamping my cards. I hope you enjoy watching my creative process (and keeping it real, as I tweaked and changed things as I went along).
Here’s the card that I made last Friday, using the “Bee My Valentine” bundle:
Cute, hey? I also made a second card during our Mystery Stamping Hour, but this time I used the “Grassy Grove” and “Growth Takes Time” stamp sets:
The black layer, with the gold embossed sentiment, is covering up the original sentiment I stamped, as I wasn’t 100% pleased with it. I like the end result!
Once I started making more cards with this layout yesterday, I couldn’t resist making another one with the “Bee My Valentine Bundle”:
Not sure about the ‘eyelashes’ but again, sometimes you just have to try out your ideas or you’ll never know what works, what you like and don’t like, and what you’ll do again or not. This is how we learn, right?
I kept the next card really simple, just by stamping on a sentiment, some birds, and adding a ribbon:
“Playing in the Rain” was a stamp set I couldn’t wait to use with this layout. However, when you watch my video (which, while sped up, doesn’t have a lot of editing), you’ll see that I kept changing the sentiment. As I mentioned, sometimes you have to keep playing around and trying different ideas until you land on the one you like!
In the end, I was quite pleased with this card – I think my glittered and jazzed-up fox was inspired by Elton John! LOL The little bird, leaves and flowers were much better than the twine bow I was originally going to use. If you’re wondering how I made the flowers, I simply used my punch to cut the flowers from Lemon Lolly card stock, misted with water, scrunched and dried. I’ve always loved making this type of flower embellishment!
I was so pleased with the last card that I made, that I’ve decided to put it aside for Father’s Day for my dad:
After editing the photos I realized that I need to blend the pink on the little girl a bit more. Sometimes you don’t notice things like that right away (especially if it’s getting late in the day LOL).
Product ListI hope you give this layout a try with your cards – I think you’ll enjoy it. The inspiration is similar to that of a polaroid photo – which still has my creative wheels in motion. However, I’ll have to save that idea – as well as the Birthday Card Holder Kit I want to make – until after I get some chores done. Sometimes there are not enough hours in a day to PLAY!
Have a great weekend and HAPPY STAMPING!
