One Layer Cards with “Forever Fern” Stamp Set!

June 20, 2020 3 Comments

Hi Friends! It’s a gorgeous Saturday morning here in NS (I live just outside of Antigonish, on route to Cape Breton). Up since 5am (I love my mornings) and I’ve already had my coffee and I’m about to start watering my garden and flowers before our heat wave hits again. It’s already 27′ and it’s only 6:30am!

Yesterday I made some thank you cards that were quick and easy but I just LOVED how they turned out! These are one-layer cards with a fun technique using our clear blocks to create a background. You simply ink a clear block, mist lightly with water and stamp onto your card stock! I made a video a couple of years ago using this technique, which you can check out here.

I had been wanting to use this watercolour block technique with the “Forever Fern” stamp set when I saw that my dear friend, Kay Smith, had created cards doing just that – and they were gorgeous! So I cased Kay’s design as my inspiration and I used the “Thank You” sentiment from one of my very favourite Paper Pumpkin stamp sets (“Hugs from Shelli” May 2019).

I joined Stampin' Up! the first night they arrived in Canada, April 2002, and what a ride it's been! At the time I just wanted the discount on all of the fabulous stamps and accessories - why pay full price if you don't have to, right? But little did I know where my journey with Stampin' Up! would take me. Read More…
