Hi Friends! Happy Monday! I hope you had a nice weekend. I spent Saturday at a local craft fair and Sunday was a day of MUCH needed R&R, which meant I played in my yard and decorated the veranda with pineboughs for the upcoming holidays (I’ll post pics when I’m finished). The craft fair was pretty quiet but I must say I was pleased with the amount of goodies I sold and I also met some great people, which made it completely worthwhile! I love it when someone discovers Stampin’ Up! for the first time and wants to learn more! Do you remember the first time you encountered Stampin’ Up! and used their products? Pretty exciting, right? I still feel that same excitement all these years later – that’s why I love Stampin’ Up! so much. The creating process, with all the awesome stamps and tools, is just SO MUCH FUN! And speaking of fun, you won’t believe what I made for the craft fair – altered mousetrap note holders! Yes, you read that right. These were hot little sellers and I can’t wait to make more! I was inspired to make these about a year ago, when I first spotted an altered mousetrap in a crafting magazine and I knew I just HAD to give it a go!
Supplies: mousetraps (of course), Soho Subway DSP, 2013-2015 In Colour DSP, Etcetera DSP, Large Pearl Basic Jewels, 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch, Paper Pumpkin Kit (Notes stamp) Baked Brown Sugar Ink, Olive Olive Ink, Sponge, 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Ribbon (Baked Brown Sugar) and 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon (Pear Pizzazz) |
Whilst I was busy making these cute little note pad holders (which could also be used for photos, cards, etc) it occurred to me that I should be making CHRISTMAS ones too! Oh yeah, Baby, hang on to your Santa’s cap – this girl was in her creative element!!!! I pulled out my Big Shot, my Festive Flurry Bundle and the gorgeous Winter Frost Speciality Designer Series Paper and these are what I came up with:
Supplies: Festive Flurry Bundle, Winter Frost Speciality DSP, Silver Glimmer Paper, Island Indigo Bakers Twine, (Tinsel and Bells, retired), Rhinestone Jewels, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Island Indigo Ink, Christmas Messages Stamp Set, I also used Sweet Essentials Stamp Set and Oh, Goodie Stamp Set on some of the mousetraps |
There is a bit of fiddling with these mousetraps – you have to remove some of the mechanics so that you don’t lose fingers – that would be bad. Nothing a pair of needle-nose pliers can’t fix! Once the mousetraps were disarmed, it was time to play! I had glue and paper and glitter and crafty goodness EVERYWHERE! I couldn’t stop! Next thing I knew it was four in the morning! Yikes! Take that as a warning, friends. Sometimes crafting can zap you into the Twilight Zone without you even realizing it and the next thing you know you’ve lost hours in what felt like seconds! I think Stampin’ Up! is to blame. *wink* On that note, come back tomorrow to see what else I made – er, what my husband made – because I was too busy making mousetrap note holders!
HAPPY STAMPING!
