Hi Friends! This past Monday I started volunteering at the our local Activity Centre again, after their summer break. It was nice to be back with these folks – I love spending time with them. The Activity Centre is a workshop for clients with intellectual disabilities and my aunt belongs to a similar group back home in BC. So I’ve got a real soft spot in my heart for this place. I truly enjoy my time teaching these sweet people how to make cards and treats that they can in turn sell to the public (along with their baked goods) and the money they make goes back into their non-profit organization. This week we made cute little Halloween treats, using the Seasonal Chums bundle.

These treat holders are to hold Hershey Kisses but I didn’t have any – fortunately the chocolate bars squeezed in perfectly. To make the holder, cut a 4″ x 1″ strip of Pumpkin Pie card stock and score at 1″, 2″ and 3″. Fold into a triangle, securing the flap with adhesive. Then stamp the Pumpkin from Seasonal Chums onto Pumpkin Pie card stock, colouring in the eyes, nose and mouth with Basic Black marker and the leaves with Old Olive. Cut with coordinating framelit (trimming off the little piece that is for a ribbon). Fold over the triangle piece and glue to front and back.

These treat bags were really easy. I cut the Spooky Night DSP to measure 3″ x 5 1/2″ to fold over the 3″ x 6″ gusseted cellophane bags and stapled in the centre. Then used the 2″ Circle Punch to cut some Crushed Curry card stock, which we then we sponged the edges with Crushed Curry ink. The “Trick or Treat” sentiment is also from the “Seasonal Chums” stamp set, which we stamped on the ‘moon’ with black ink. The new cat punch is perfect for these treat bags and we added a couple rhinestones for the eyes.

Everyone enjoyed making these little Halloween treats that they’ll sell along with their hand stamped cards. The members of the Activity Centre also make delicious dinner rolls and baking, so I’m sure their customers will find it hard to resist getting some of these sweet holiday treats too!

I also had some fun using my photo editor on this picture for the Centre’s facebook page….everyone got quite a kick out of it.
