Hi Friends! I hope you had a nice weekend! We spent Saturday in Halifax, to enjoy our last day with my BFF, Hedi (who’s like a sister to me) and her awesome hubby, Dave, after their two week visit to Nova Scotia (they’re from my hometown, Comox, on Vancouver Island). We had a wonderful time with Dave & Hedi, showing them the local sites, camping along the Cabot Trail and Thanksgiving back here at home.
absolutely loved Nova Scotia! I must say though, I’m feeling somewhat
blue today, missing my dear friends already. It’s not always easy being so far away from my friends and family back home in BC – sometimes our provinces are
just too far apart!!!
Yesterday I spent the entire day canning salsa. Due to frost a couple of weeks back, I picked all the tomatoes from my garden (hoards of them) and single layered them in boxes in between newspaper. Now they’re all turning red faster than I can keep up with all of them. I’ll be canning more salsa as well as some chutneys, throughout the week. I’m also going to make some Chow Chow preserves for the first time ever – a traditional East Coast treat that is delicious! So I’ll be saving some green tomatoes for that. Then there’s all the zucchini I’ve yet to deal with…hahaha! The other thing I did yesterday was cut back all my thyme, rosemary and sage. I’ve got them all bundled up inside paper bags (about nine bags total) and hanging upside down in a cool, dry spot. In a couple of weeks I’ll place all the dried herbs inside some glass jars to enjoy until next year’s garden. Hard to believe that summer is over – did you find it went as fast as I did? Fortunately, Autumn is my favourite season. However, I have a sneaky suspicion winter may be whopper this year (and early). We woke up to another frost and zero degrees this morning. Yesterday I bit the bullet and packed all my summer clothes into my hope chest and pulled out all my winter sweaters. Bah. LOL. Oh well. It’s all good. Winter is a nice to time to scale back and relax, enjoy the wood stove, comforting food, books to get lost in and of course, lots of stamping!
- Fold 11″ x 4 1/4″ Whisper White in half to create card base.
- Ink row of trees from “Lovely as a Tree” with Early Espresso and stamp across the 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White card stock.
- Place the 3 3/4″ x 5″ Whisper White layer on Stamparatus and use magnetic to hold in place.
- Ink deer images from “Dashing Deer” set with Early Espresso and stamp three times, re-inking each time.
- Stamp sentiment from “Stylish Christmas” set with Early Espresso and stamp three times, re-inking each time.
- Add liquid glue to silicon craft sheet and mix with a bit of water. Using a scruffy paint brush (I use an old aqua painter), add glue to card for the ‘snow’, making sure to dab some onto the trees. Sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds Glitter over card stock, shaking off excess. Position onto card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Stamp inside of card as desired.

I really like this card and hope I get a chance to make some. Thanks for the tutorial.
Wow, you're really busy with canning. I can just imagine you rushing to get those rippened tomatoes done before they go bad.
We were forcast to have our first frost last evening, but I'm not sure if it happened; I finished work at 11pm and slept in until 8:30.
Have a great day, Tina.
