Hi Friends!
Today I’m excited to share a beautiful Ink-Over-Paint Technique that is so simple and so elegant, you’ll be amazed at how quickly you can create a real WOW card. If you enjoy techniques that look like you spent hours in your craft room—but actually take just minutes—then you are going to love this one!
This method combines light stamping, white paint, and a final crisp layer of black ink, giving your image a gorgeous frosted highlight effect. It’s especially striking on Crumb Cake cardstock, adding warmth and depth that really makes your stamp pop!
Here’s the card I demonstrated in today’s video, using the beautiful “Fond of Autumn” stamp set:

Watch how EASY this technique is:
✨ What You’ll Need
- Crumb Cake cardstock (or any kraft-coloured cardstock)
- White acrylic paint (or white craft paint)
- StazOn or Tuxedo Black Memento ink
- Light brown ink (I used Crumb Cake ink)
- Water brush or fine paintbrush
- Favourite stamp set
- Heat tool (optional, for faster drying)
- Adhesives and card base of your choice
🎨 The Ink-Over-Paint Technique (Step-by-Step)
- Lightly Stamp Your Image
Stamp your image using a light brown ink onto Crumb Cake cardstock. This will become your base outline. - Add White Paint
Using white acrylic or craft paint, carefully paint inside the stamped lines. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect—this is an art technique and little variations add charm! - Let It Dry
You can air dry or speed it up with your heat tool. - Stamp Again in Black Ink
Once the paint is completely dry, stamp the same image again using black ink, right over top of your original impression. - Assemble Your Card
Add layers, embellishments, and sentiment of your choice.
And that’s it! SO easy, SO pretty, and SUCH a wow!
More Samples for Inspiration
At the end of the video, I shared three additional projects using this technique, including:
🌟A sweet friendship card — helllooooo, “Wizard of Oz” stamp set! (I couldn’t resist!)
🌟A Christmas tag — because of course I HAD to bring in some cute snowpeople!
🌟A winter scene deer card — a perfect masculine card for the season

I forgot to mention in my video that you can also colour on top of the painted/stamped image! For my Christmas tag I used Stampin’ Blend markers for the hats and scarves. Cute or what?
