Hi Friends! Today I thought it would be fun to just play with my 3D embossing folders and see what I could come up with. I ended up making nine different cards through lots of experimenting, and I thought you’d enjoy seeing the process.

I started by embossing Very Vanilla cardstock with a 3D folder. While the paper was still in place inside the folder, I added glue to certain areas — like petals and leaves — so I could layer in different types of paper.
I tried antique book pages, some designer series paper, even coffee-dyed paper I had stamped on. Each one gave a different look. Some worked better than others, but that’s part of the fun of experimenting!
Once the glue dried, I tore around the pieces so the images were revealed. Then I added colour by dabbing my ink pads onto a glass mat, spritzing with water, and swiping the paper across. This gave such a pretty wash of colour over the raised embossing.

For a few of the pieces, I even added clear and white embossing powder on top for extra shine and texture.

I didn’t film the actual card assembly, but I wanted to show you how each experiment turned into finished cards. You’ll see nine different cards here, each one a little unique because of the paper and the inks I used. That’s what makes this kind of play so fun — you never quite know what you’ll get, and every card is one-of-a-kind.

If you’ve got embossing folders in your stash, I hope this inspires you to pull them out and try a little experimenting of your own. Don’t be afraid to play — you might be surprised at the results.
HAPPY STAMPING!
