3 Easy Ways to Make Backgrounds for Scenery Cards | HILLS OF TUSCANY

The new “Hills from Tuscany” stamp set was a ‘must have’ when I first saw it in our Mini Catalogue. This stamp set is ideal for quick and simple cards using just stamps, ink, and paper, as well as stepped-up cards with a full background scene.

Creating beautiful backgrounds for scenery cards using the “Hills of Tuscany” stamp set can be done in so many ways. One easy technique is to simply ink your stamps and lightly mist them with water before pressing onto watercolor cardstock:

Another technique to create backgrounds for scenery cards is to use your clear blocks. This is something I’ve always loved doing, and you can see more samples and videos of this technique here and here.

Begin by tapping your chosen ink colors for the sky and hills onto a clear block, then mist with water and press onto your card stock (both watercolor and basic white papers will work). This will seamlessly blend and merge your background colors on your cardstock.

My favourite way to make a background for my scenery cards is using the ink direct-to-paper technique. This is such a simple and FUN technique that has been around for years, but it never grows old!

Simply swipe your ink across your paper, using the side or top edge of your ink pad. This method creates a beautifully unpredictable and vibrant background that can be used with practically EVERY type of stamp image and style!
