Hi Friends! I’m excited to share a beautiful background technique with you today! This “Paper Quilt” technique is super FUN and I just love it – I think you will as well. While I used 1″ x 1″ squares, this technique will also work beautifully with strips of paper, or another shape and design conducive to quilt patterns. I really like the look of the squares for today’s card designs.
I couldn’t resist pulling out the new “Little Ladybug” stamp set for this card, but wouldn’t it also look gorgeous with flowers, die cuts, or other embellishments and sentiments?! |
You can use any Designer Series Paper patterns, different coloured card stock, stamped card stock, leftover scraps, etc. Try different colour combinations and alternative stamp sets too. I also used our new “Parisian Flourish” 3-D Embossing Folder to create the raised embossed texture for a quilted look (which is AMAZING) – most embossing folders will work too, giving a multitude of fabulous designs.
For this card, I used the “Parisian Dies” and no embossing folder. |
I love the vintage look of this card! After I ran the quilted layer through the “Parisian Flourish” embossing folder, I sponged a light layer of Early Espresso ink over top. The sentiment, from the “Parisian Beauty” stamp set, is stamped onto a strip of Pool Party card stock, and a few rhinestones finished off the card. |
I hope you give this technique a try and enjoy the versatility of this fun background!
